To promote the new online speed dating service, Lavalife is allowing any members, paying and non-paying, to use the service for free through June 24, 2009. Simply sign up for a Lavalife account to test the new service.
The online speed dating option allows users to go on 10 dates in 30 minutes (each online speed date is three minutes long). After your speed dates you get to let LavaLife know which ones you liked and they'll let you know if any of the ones you like also put that they liked you from the speed dating event.
Right now LavaLife is only testing the online speed dating option once a night. But as the feature and user-base grows, the number of times speed dates are conducted may increase.
Lavalife is trying to position itself as different from other online dating services. In addition to having three different communities and now online speed dating, Lavalife also allows non-paying members to respond to emails from paying members. Most online dating services force non-paying members to become paying members in order to respond to a message from another member.
